Deep within The Labyrinth of Insanity, a great battle took place between the warrior and the fallen angel.
“Your cannot win,” said the fallen. “one must sacrifice to challenge a god; your soul will remain in the abyss for eternity.”
“I make my own path,” mortal replied, “and you are no god.”
Resident Evil – Code: Veronica
I’ve decided to include a (short) post on RE:CV into my attempt on introduce/reintroduce the world of RE to fans/rookies alike.
To be honest, it would be disrespectful if I didn’t include this installment. I’d go so far as to say that this was one of the finest REs ever created by Capcom, and the last of the “golden era” perfected by the accumulated experience over the previous three generations.
Be sure to go for the ‘complete’ edition, with enhanced visuals and bundled with extra content, I promise it’d be worthwhile. This game is also available on the DreamCast console, if that beast by SEGA still fires up, then you should seriously consider getting it:
Or, if you have a PlayStation2, you can consider getting the X edition:
Whilst the core system remained more or less identical to the past 3 generations, it’s the depth of the story and the incredibly detailed visual elements that would drive you forward.
Admittedly certain aspects of the game had become very “aged” even at the time of its release, but for me RE:CV was not an attempt to prolong the franchise, but a final “farewell” from the Capcom team. Because they know the next RE release would change the entire world for their die-hard fans…
